Final Reflection

During this program, I learned in depth about the field of Meteorology, and I was able to deeply understand the different software that meteorologists use on a day to day basis. I was very happy to learn about technology such as Radarscope, as well as about the different models and methods that my mentors taught me during my internships. I was also very happy during my community service to be able to help out in the community and get the company of LEAP more attention. LEAP wants to help people get better energy and installation, so I was very happy to advertise this company and let more people know about the helpful causes of this company.

I learned during my research, internship, and community service that while I was very interested in meteorology and want to continue with learning about it in the future, it's not something I want to pursue in the future as a career. While I really enjoyed learning about all of the technology and the day to day life of meteorologist such as Travis and Dominique, I feel that this field is not a place I want to go into. Most meteorologists start off in the news field, having to get the weather forecast and then present it on live television, which is not something I see me doing in the future. After completing my VASTS summer academy at NASA, I became extremely interested in the field of aerospace engineering, and because of that I have decided to go to a college into the major of aerospace engineering, which could eventually open up me to a job at a place such as NASA.

For my advice: Some people might believe they can wait and get a community service and internship later on, it often takes a while to actually get one. I took around 20 emails just to get an internship and community service locked in, and it took me around a month to get this, but luckily I completed the class during the summer so I was able to still have time to complete all my internships and community service. The second piece of advice is to ask for help, as there will often be many problems, and so asking people such as Mrs. Esch for help is crucial and a part of life. The final piece of advice is to have fun with the course, as the entire point of the program is to learn more about oneself, and so therefore having fun while also enjoying oneself should be the final goal of the program.

I enjoyed getting the experience of this program, and know it will influence me in getting more internships and community service in the future. It also influenced me into changing my career choice, which in the turn might lead me to a more happy future. Thank you for reading this post, and I really enjoyed this program!
