High School Experience

Hello! In this section I want to go over my high school experience, specifically a few key events and awards that I completed.

For general, I graduated Fluvanna County High School with a 4.62 Weighted GPA, which lead me third in the class. I also graduated with an advanced diploma.

I attended FCHS through years 9-12, which was 2021-2025. During this time, I took advanced classes such as Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement, while also taking tests such as the SAT and developing friendships and experiences.

Below, I will go through specific sections such as BRVGS, NASA Programs, and finally touch on awards and other experience.

After I graduated from FCHS, I went on to attend UVA, as detailed in the UVA page on the top navigation bar.

Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School - Senior Project

While at Fluvanna County High School, I joined BRVGS, which was an advanced program that opened up more classes, projects, and advanced student knowledge.
In my senior year of that program, I completed a summer project, which is where we picked an area of interest and completed Community Service, Internships, and Research about said topic, and then did a 15 minute presentation in the spring. We also had to complete Journals and other information.

Instead of writing all the information here, I have created a copy of the website that I created during this entire project and will link it below

VESSS/VASTS

During the spring of 2024, I completed a class called "Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars which was through the Space grant program. In this class, I learned about NASA, their mission, and deeper aerospace technologies. This class is what got me into Aerospace Engineering, before I decided to do Computer Science at UVA.
Then, in the spring of 2025, I did the same thing but for "Virginia Earth System Science Scholars" which is another program but more orientated on the Earth's systems and how they combine into one another.

During the summer of both years, I got into the summer academy by having excellence during the normal spring class.
The summer academy was a week long program where students were put into groups, and had to work with their group to complete an "aspect" of a mission. With VASTS it was a Mars Mission, with VESSS it was a combined satellite systems mission.

For VASTS, I was on the Science and Surface Operations team, responsible for on-Mars operations
For VESSS, I was on the Hydrosphere team, responsible for water related part of the mission.
At the academy, we had to work with out group to develop our part of the mission, while also having meetings with other groups to plan certain aspects of the mission as a whole, such as timeframe and budget.

We also got to take tours of NASA, science museums, and learned more about NASA and it's entire operations during both opportunities.

Awards

During High School, there are a few awards that I achieved.

After finishing my AP exams, I achieved both the AP Capstone Diploma and AP Scholar with Distinction Award.
The AP Capstone award is given to students who passed both AP Research and AP Seminar, and passed 4 other exams
The AP Scholar with Distinction is given to students who passed 5 exams and had an average score of 3.5

During the fall of the 2023 school year, I received the "National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program" award.

This award is given to students who have achieved outstanding academic achievement and excellence, and live in a rural or small town area.

At the start of May, I received the Salutatorian Award at Fluvanna County High School for having the 2nd highest GPA at the school for my grade.
With this award, I also gave a speech during graduation.

At the end of the school year, our school hosted awards night. During this event, I received a $5,000 scholarship for College from the College Bragg Association, which gives out scholarships based on academic achievement. This scholarship went towards my cost of attendance at UVA.
